In the Kyiv region, operational border guards of the BCP "Kyiv," in cooperation with the operatives of the Volyn border guard detachment, detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security and employees of the Department of Combating Smuggling and Violations of Customs Rules of the Volyn Customs, uncovered a scheme for importing commercial goods under the guise of humanitarian aid.

Law enforcement officers found that a group of individuals used the credentials of a charitable organization and, under its auspices, imported freon gas into the territory of Ukraine for further sale.

The organizers of the scheme were individuals involved in the sale of climate and refrigeration equipment. To avoid paying taxes, the schemers used the details of a charitable organization in the Kyiv region, the director of which had previously been held criminally responsible for the illegal use of humanitarian aid for profit. They declared the commercial goods as humanitarian aid.

Upon arrival in Ukraine, after passing all customs operations, the criminals replaced the truck for conspiracy purposes and delivered the goods to the warehouse. The total amount of confiscated freon gas exceeded 14 million UAH.

The investigation is ongoing, establishing the full circle of persons involved in this scheme. The pre-trial investigation under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being conducted by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Kyiv region in cooperation with border guards of the operational-search unit of the BCP "Kyiv" of the State Border Guard Service and the Department of Combating Smuggling and Violations of Customs Rules of the Volyn Customs.
